Mounjaro Weight Loss: What Evidence Suggests

When it comes to quick fixes for weight gain, Mounjaro is a key part of it, and if you are looking for quicker ways to lose weight, you will be familiar with this injection sold and taken to help. But it’s important to understand what this is and how it actually works, as videos that you will be seeing on Instagram and TikTok could be an ad that you aren’t aware of. As they may be getting paid commission if users click through their video to purchase.

If you aren’t familiar with Mounjaro, we will first discuss the injection, what it does to your body, and all the information that you will need to be aware of.

What Is Mounjaro?

Originally used to treat those with type 2 diabetes, similar to Ozempic, Mounjaro is a weight loss injection that has not yet been approved by health officials as a weight loss solution, which is very important to be aware of.

Mounjaro triggers dramatic weight loss in those who inject it to treat those with diabetes, and is also linked to helping lower blood sugar levels. This drug contains tirzepatide, which influences insulin and glucose within the body but also slows down stomach emptying.

It’s interesting that all of these diabetes medications to treat those who are morbidly obese are becoming extremely popular choices for weight loss, but there is not enough fast research on what this does to an individual’s body who doesn’t have diabetes and to what extent this drug works.

How Is Mounjaro Supplied?

This drug is very accessible and is sold in the likes of Boots and Superdrug pharmacies, so it’s not hard to get your hands on. However, there is a range of dosage types from 2.5 mg to 15 mg and it can be bought in an injection form or a prefilled pen to make things much easier for those who aren’t confident or possibly afraid of needles.

So your dosage will depend on many factors, such as your weight, age, height, expected results and how far you are within the treatment. This will be suggested once you have filled out the eligibility form and so forth.

How Does It Work

In short, it suppresses appetite and makes you feel fuller. It changes the rate at which your stomach empties. Which is very similar to Ozempic, but what I have heard about Ozempic is that it not only suppresses your appetite, but if you want to indulge in unhealthy and greasy foods, it makes you feel sick and sometimes throw up, which is interesting that your body would also reject all bad stuff. I’ve not heard much regarding the same for this type of weight loss injection.

Here is a more detailed explanation of how Mounjaro works. Mounjaro functions by activating receptors in both the brain and stomach that inform your body it’s time to stop eating. It contains an ingredient known as tirzepatide, which imitates hormones that signal fullness.

Once a dose is administered, tirzepatide begins to circulate throughout the body. This activates nerves that communicate to the brain; as a result, individuals start to feel satisfied after consuming significantly smaller portions than they typically would require to feel full or satisfied.

Over the course of several weeks and months of receiving weekly Mounjaro injections, consuming smaller meal sizes results in a reduction of overall calorie intake. This calorie deficit, in combination with Mounjaro’s additional effects, contributes to weight loss.

All that being said, you will need to make lifestyle changes to get the full benefit of this injection.

The Weight Loss Evidence

Based on what happens, it basically forces people to go on a calorie deficit, rather than being a fat burner which is interesting.

Study By RAC GP

The ‘head-to-head’ SURMOUNT-5 clinical trial, conducted by Eli Lilly and published on Wednesday, revealed that ‘Mounjaro provided a clinically significant advantage and statistically meaningful weight loss,’ indicating patients experienced a 47% increased relative weight loss in comparison to Wegovy after 72 weeks.

The results showed that participants in both medication groups achieved considerable weight loss, with those taking tirzepatide (marketed as Mounjaro) losing an average of 20.2% (22.8 kg) of their body weight, while those on semaglutide (Wegovy) averaged a 13.7% (15 kg) reduction.

Social Media

There are a lot of posts online from people documenting their Mounjaro journey. While these individuals are noticeably losing weight, it’s hard to trust all that you see on social media, as they can easily be paid by pharmacies to promote their sales

There is a lot of data out there for it to help people with diabetes, which is what its main goal was overall but there are not enough studies out there for its effects on people without type 2 diabetes. So I would suggest just because it might work doesn’t mean it’s good for you in the short and long term.

I would suggest that you do more research, talk to health professionals and find better natural alternatives that you can stick by. As these results come as quickly as a calorie deficit, by the sounds of it.

Alternatives To Mounjaro

Plastic Surgery

The quickest and by far the most expensive is plastic surgery, and procedures such as a gastric band, abdominoplasty, mummy makeover and everything in between can help remove stubborn fat and give you that snatched body you’ve always wanted. While injections over a long period of time with Mounjaro may eventually be equivalent to the cost of surgery, anyway. It’s about finding the best treatment for you, and this one, when gone to a UK surgeon, is better trusted and results, etc.

Ozempic

Another treatment like Mounjaro, however, research and opinions all over the internet suggest Mounjaro is a better option. I don’t recommend either, but this is another similar option.

Exercise

For natural weight loss that will leave your body in its best condition, regular exercise paired with a healthy diet and calorie deficit. Exercise doesn’t have to be insane and met with really hard workouts. Just moving your body through weight training or long walks will do the trick, paired with a healthy calorie deficit, and you will see that stubborn fat leave.
